Once a rare site on Delray Beach roads, Kia hybrids are increasingly popular and affordable, promising to dominate the new electric vehicle market. Kia hybrids help Boca Raton drivers take advantage of the latest clean vehicle technology. But what constitutes a hybrid car exactly, and what kind of gas mileage can you expect? Kia Delray covers all things related to Kia hybrids, including the new Niro EV, below!

Kia Conventional Hybrid Models

Conventional hybrids are well-known as trim options for popular vehicles. These hybrid vehicles use an electric motor as well as a gasoline engine. Often, they come with a technology called Regenerative Braking, which takes the energy created when you put on your brakes and uses it to add power to the electric engine. Lately, vehicles like the Kia Optima Hybrid have fully parallel systems, resulting in massive gains to your mpg ratings.

  • Kia Optima Hybrid: The Kia Optima Hybrid puts an electric motor in one of the most successful Kia sedans in history. And continual updates increase the electric power this sedan delivers by double-digit intervals! For example, the 2020 Kia Optima hybrid delivers 40 MPG city, 45 MPG highway, and 42 MPG combined.
  • Kia Niro Hybrid: Want a hybrid SUV? The Kia Niro is a forward-thinking crossover that combines hybrid engine specs with the comforts of a spacious SUV. The dual-motor system also comes with innovative dual-clutch transmission you can switch into Sport Mode for truly zippy performance.

Plus, it’s being said that the redesigned 2021 Kia Sorento will also available with two hybrid drivetrains!

Kia Plug-In Hybrid Models and Electric Models

Newer innovations in hybrid vehicles for Boynton Beach drivers include Kia plug-in hybrids and all-electric vehicles. So, what is a plug-in hybrid car? While hybrids and plug-in hybrids use a combination of gas and electric motors, conventional hybrids are still powered with gasoline. This isn’t the case with a Kia plug-in hybrid, which can use a charger to directly fuel your engines with electricity. Kia plug-in hybrids include:

  • Kia Optima Plug-In Hybrid: The plug-in version of the Kia Optima hybrid stores its lithium-ion battery in the trunk while still making room for cargo. You’ll be able to fully charge in under 3 hours!
  • Niro Plug-In Hybrid: The Niro Plug-In Hybrid retains all the benefits of this hybrid SUV, like its amenity-heavy interior and dual-clutch transmission. You’ll also benefit from the potential to go fully electric for up to 26 miles on the 2020 model.
  • Kia Niro EV: Though it’s been delayed for 2020, the Kia Niro EV is now heading to West Palm Beach for drivers who are ready for a fully electric crossover SUV. This addition to the lineup has an EPA range of up to 238 miles and exemplifies how electric vehicles aren’t just for the ultra-luxury market anymore.
  • Kia Soul EV: In addition to the Kia Niro EV, the Kia Soul EV puts the all-electric technology for Kia vehicles inside one of Kia’s most popular small cars.

Kia Delray is an Authorized Kia Hybrid Retailer and Service Center

The new technologies on Kia hybrid and Kia plug-in hybrid vehicles call for new forms of expertise. That’s why the service center at Kia Delray has stepped into the future by training its technicians on all the latest hybrid and electric vehicle technologies. To be more specific, in order for Kia Delray to even become certified to sell and service Niro EV vehicles, we first had to:

  • Purchase of all required EV special tools and all PHEV model special tools
  • Purchase and installation of two electric vehicle chargers:
    • One Level 2 – 240 volt AC charger (for PHEV models)
    • One Level “2.5” – 24kW semi-fast DC charger (for EV models)
  • Complete all required training courses (sales, parts, service, and technical) for EV vehicles, as published in the 2020 Kia University Training & Certification Requirements.

All of this is to say we’ve got the latest tools, not to mention all the know-how, required to service your Kia hybrids, so you can trust us to help maintain your Kia hybrid after you drive off the lot!
