How Kia Remote Start Works

2020 Kia Sorento SX

Our Delray Beach customers love the convenience provided by Kia Remote Start, and we like it, too! What’s not to love about being able to start your car, lock and unlock the doors, and immobilize your vehicle from over 500 feet away?

What many people don’t know, however, is that Kia offers two different kinds of remote start. One version involves a push button and smart key. The other version, UVO, enables remote start and several other impressive remote features from your smartphone. Here, Kia Delray delves into the details of both versions of this amazing feature.

Kia Remote Start via Smart Key and Push Button

This version of Kia Remote Start involves using the Smart Key remote. It has a range of 500 feet, meaning your car can be warmed up and started on a chilly Boca Raton winter morning before you even step outside your house. But that’s not all it can do! Here’s a list of the impressive capabilities of Kia Remote Start using your Smart Key:

  • Start or stop engine from outside the car
  • Lock or unlock doors remotely
  • Immobilize the car so that it can not start without the Smart Key

Kia Remote Start via Kia Access With UVO Link

Kia Access with UVO Link gives control to your smartphone instead of a Smart Key; this is a subscription service (although the first year is free when you purchase a new Kia vehicle) and, as such, it allows you to do so much more. For instance, have you found yourself searching all over some Boynton Beach parking lot because you forgot where you parked your car? That’s not a problem with Kia UVO link! Here are some of the many conveniences this feature offers:

  • Start or stop engine from outside the car
  • Lock or unlock doors remotely
  • Access or turn on climate control remotely
  • Find my car
  • Owner’s Manual
  • Quick guides
  • Videos
  • Warranty information
  • Vehicle payment information (if financed through Kia Motors Finance)

Kia Models With Remote Start

Kia Remote Start is available as an option on most new Kia vehicles. However, it comes standard with these models:
